March is Alaska’s Arts Education Month!

Alaska’s Department of Education and Early Development Commissioner Dr. Michael Johnson has signed a Proclamation declaring March Arts Education month. There are so many reasons the arts are crucial to our students, our schools and our communities and the proclamation lists many of them.

“Whereas, arts education offers ALaska’s students a chance to broaden their perspectives and allows for the expression of their imaginations and creativity…”

“Now, therefore, I, Dr. Michael Johnson, Commission of the Department of Education and Early Development, do hereby proclaim March 2019 as: Alaska Arts Education Month

and encourage all Alaskans to support and participate in arts and cultural programs offered to students of all ages in schools and communities across our great state.”
